It was a rough go, growing up, and I feel a little bit of shame saying that now that I am a parent. All of the "If only I had known" feelings and guilt associated with such sometimes bog me down, but I take it as a learning experience, and can only hope that my children are better because of it.
I kept this list in my diary when I was between 11 and 13, and came upon it just the other day when I received my box-o-childhood from my mom.
Things I will NEVER say to my kids
1. Look it up
2. Welcome to the REAL world
3. Well that's the only sister you've got!
4. Life ain't fair
5. You'll understand when you're older
6. Because I said so
7. I hope you have a kid just like you!
8. Money doesn't grow on trees
9. I'm not a chauffeur
10. There is no way I'm paying that much for.....
Oh how times haven't changed I guess, because the only item on this list I haven't said, is "Look it up!" Yeah, you guessed it, I say "Google it!"
