Top 10 things I hate about the MORNING!

We don't need alarms around here, there are enough mouths to do that for us.

The whirlwind that is our morning, is literally fantastic. Daddy works nights, and comes home promptly at 5 AM. Despite his efforts, tip toeing around the house, and eventually falling asleep on the couch as not to wake the children, as a matter of miracle, or their instinct... he wakes the children.

Perhaps it is just me, or perhaps others don't admit to what I am about to say. I am NOT myself when I first wake up. Before that first cup of coffee, (or the second) and cigarette, (or third) I am a closed eyed nightmare. My kids have learned this about me, and try not to talk to me until things have been taken care of properly, but unfortunately, my 1 year old son often falls victim to my mouth.

"Nico NOOOOOOO!"
"Nico LAY DOOOWWWWNNNN!"
"It is NOT wake up time!!!"

(it is)

And so begins the flurry of the 2 hours from hell that is my morning.

The top 10 things I hate about the morning are....

  1. Looking for the baby's cuppie
  2. THE SOCK BASKET
  3. 4 people in ONE bathroom, often times 2 or more naked.
  4. Searching the dryer for a matching....something
  5. Gym clothes
  6. Unfinished mystery homework that was "forgotten"
  7. Wet footprints throughout the house
  8. A poopie diaper on the floor next to the crib
  9. I'm not hungry
  10. I need money for..... (like I can give a kid a debit card)
  11. The car seat is in the wrong car
  12. We are ALL LATE!

    Wait....did I say TEN??

The Sea Pirates, by Giovanna

It isn't unusual that my daughters, I'm sure like most others, doodle and color their way through every sheet of paper in my house. I don't get to use my printer anymore...

But I digress. This time, I was so impressed with my eight year olds work, that I just HAD to share it with you, and introduce you to our new mommy daughter project!

This came about as things usually do around here...keep them busy with a project so I can....UGH...clean a different kid. Giovanna decided to write a real book, and I began humoring her when I sat down at the end of the night to read it.

Together we read it to the 4 year old, Luci, and it read JUST like any other book they have! Now crazy ideas me, told her that we were publishing that sucker!

First her story, then the plan!

How to help a toddler through Back to School

It's not always easy saying good-bye to big brother or sister.

Poooooor Luci got herself all dressed up and ready the first day of school...

(she's not in school yet) And saying good-bye those first few days was really hard!

It is NOT fair that Gia gets to go and you have to stay here with me.

5 Crazy things overheard at MY house...

It struck me not too long ago, how accustomed we can become...to almost anything. Let me first say, that my house is just INSANE!

INSANE!!!

Picture the scene, and don't judge! When I wake up, I require at least 45 minutes of "wake up time". This entails getting up before the kids, smoking like 3 cigarettes, answering emails and doing other such bloggy chores. My computer, which I obviously live on) is in the far back of the house. You must close 3 doors before you are there. After the coffee and nicotene kick in, I am good to go!

BUT....
Those kiddos of mine don't see it that way.

The TAO of Babies-

If you are a new mother, you may not find humor in what you are about to see.

Don't doubt its truth!

With no warning, reliving heartbreak

I never thought that my heart could break like it did today, and the realization that it will be so much worse, is staggering.

10 thing I swore I'd never say to my kids

It was a rough go, growing up, and I feel a little bit of shame saying that now that I am a parent. All of the "If only I had known" feelings and guilt associated with such sometimes bog me down, but I take it as a learning experience, and can only hope that my children are better because of it.

I kept this list in my diary when I was between 11 and 13, and came upon it just the other day when I received my box-o-childhood from my mom.

Saving Series Part 5: Dressed and back to school for under $50

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Bealls for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Included in our big financial plans each year, alongside Christmas and Birthdays, is the dreaded and often exciting Back to school shopping! Since my large and in charge son decided to grow so darn fast, we are now completely out of hand me down bags! Since I now need to dress 5, we'll need a new shopping plan! Fashionista Princess Luci, and Rockstar Giovanna, are still excited despite my frugality :)

Saying Good-bye to the BoBo

It's been a long road, Bobo...(aka the binkie, pacifier, paci, and whatever else you'd like to call it) You have been Nico's best friend, his love, and his cushion. I'm sad to see you go...

My first two children didn't give TOO much of a fuss when it was time to say good-bye. After one too many times of scouring the living room for it, I finally put them to bed without, at around 8 months of age. There were 2 or 3 nights of crying for about 30 minutes, and that was it. Easy Peasy.

Nico however, and I would like to attribute this to him being my last baby, (You know, spoiling, cherishing every moment, sad with passing milestones...) LOVES his Bobo. Needs it, talks sweetly to it...seriously. I swear I've seen him making eyes at the Bobo!

So we started out by leaving it up high, where he couldn't just grab it at will, and we could still get it for meltdowns. The next step was to hide it from him, and keeping it out of eyesight, but still downstairs in case of total meltdown. Lastly, we have been keeping it in the crib, waiting to see him at bed time.

Now is the time when she leaves him for good, and breaks his little heart. :(

I'll let you know how that goes!!

Eco Babies: Cloth diapering ain't what it used to be!

So what do you imagine when you think of cloth diapering? Of course, I immediately render the black and white image of myself as a baby, (It was so NOT black and white :) covered in.....YUCK!

And the PINS? If I can barely handle my squirmy son using some plastic stickers, how would I ever accomplish pins?

I will be honest, and sincerely apologize ahead of time to my many GREEN Mommy friends out there, that I never even considered the idea!

Not too long ago, I was contacted by Eco Babies, regarding a review on Nature's Baby Organics products, which prompted me to their website. Oh how uninformed I was. Cloth diapering AIN'T what it used to be! To my surprise, the pins are no longer necessary? Like someone came up with an alternative for connecting fabric? Jeesh, as a crafter, and specifically creator of baby items, you think this may have crossed my mind?

Oh hindsight, why must you torment me!

Digging deeper into Eco Babies, led me to the realization that this must be shared with other mommies! Eco Babies not only offers these cute as a button all in one cloth diapers, but hundreds of other planet friendly baby items! Naturally, there are green detergents, and cleaning items, but would you expect to find toys?

Check out the stats for these Apple Park Picnic Pals:
  • Eyes: recycled non-toxic plastic safety eyes
  • Nose, Ears & Paws: natural silk & hemp blend
  • Fur: 100% organic cotton
  • Filling: Sustainable corn fiber, 100% organic cotton fiber & recycled non-toxic plastic pellets
  • Packaging: 100% recycled paper printed with soy ink and finished with a natural silk and hemp blend leaf and grosgrain ribbon handle.

I think that many of us are under the impression that GREEN living is difficult, or like me, if it cannot be done completely, why bother doing it at all? Eco Babies has introduced me to the fact that I was wrong. It CAN be done completely.

So for a newbie like me, it would be difficult to jump right in, right? UGH...wrong again. Not only does Eco Babies offer cloth diapering workshops, but you can even have a consult in you HOME. Best of all, all of this can be attained for the new mommy, via Eco Babies registry.

If I had it to do all over again....like many other things, it would be done differently. I would take advice from those who told me, "If I could do it all over again..."

My old aged wisdom dear Cute-E-Pies, Oh so Pinkies up and Preggers, look a little more into your options before you write off turning your bump green!
