How to send an e-gift to new subscribers

For a long time I've been evolving in both my blogging, business, and strategies. This is mainly because I continue to learn, research, and implement what I learn. I like to test and experiment. Isn't it so cliche to say, "If I had known then what I do now...." but yet it remains true. So, I decided to put together a series of just that.

I think I am much like any other person that starts blogging. 

Doesn't know ANYTHING -----> kind-of knowing some stuff ----->Dang I wish I knew that before -----> Well let me TELL someone!

When putting together Cute-Ecakes Facebook page, and Twitter pages, like most others I added an automation factor. Whenever I post, it will tweet. Whenever I post, my Facebook page will update.

WARNING!!! Automation is a double edged sword!
(Automating your Facebook page can have some detrimental effects to your traffic, but that is another article for another day!)

Today we talk Twitter.

I joined Twitter because I thought I basically had to. I needed a little birdie icon like everyone else had. Period. I never thought of it as a means to increase traffic.

It was another big DUH moment tonight, when I realized how much more could be done with creating a buzz to draw traffic, and that I have been going about it all wrong! I think that I, as many others, began our social media journeys in quite the same way. Piddling in a new site because we needed that particular profile, and thought we should. Tweeting out our posts, the occasional something witty ;-)

How to line up your sidebar buttons

Probably just a crazy pet peeve of mine, and I am sure it doesn't even matter in the long run, but I HATE it when sidebar buttons are sized incorrectly, or not lined up! I have spent likely hours trying to fix my own, and sometimes Blogger doesn't make it easy!

Here are a few quick shortcuts to avoid situations like this:

If you sell on Etsy, as I once did, one of your biggest challenges is GETTING the traffic to your store and items! Many times it is financially disadvantageous to continually repost to stay on page 1 or 2. A great way to get your name out there, is to have a review of your products on a popular blog.

How to remove the Blogger navigation bar

Before reading this post, please note that according to Blogspot, you cannot remove the navigation bar unless you are hosted on your own server. (It still works though!!!)

This is so easy, and I think such a HUGE improvement in the look of your blog! Here is the test blog for my newest design:

• Go To "design"--->Edit HTML
• Always backup your template first!
• Press Control+F to bring up your search bar, and locate body {
• Paste the following code JUST before it

}

  Save your template, and That's it!

I've been experimenting with something for about a couple of weeks now, and I feel comfortable to share it with you! I was really down when Triberr went to manual. When the promotional ban was imposed, I was even more unhappy.

BUT I understood that it was not Triberr's fault. That because of the set up of their system, the changes HAD to be made to avoid violating Twitter TOS, and the revocation of their API.

I found a loop hole in the TOS that will allow us to RT on auto once again!!

It was a wild spike in traffic mid morning, and a frenzy of research last month, that prompted this post.

 

As bloggers, we (and I hope it isn't just me...) stalk our traffic patterns. By stalk, I mean that I check into several sources, several times throughout the day. I find that although Blogger stats (above) are usually very inflated in comparison to my other sources, it is at least proportional. A great site I use, is Histats. With this site, I can see the IP addresses of each visitor, so I trust its values.

As you can see, something crazy happened that day!!

I just found a neat little way to find this out! I use Photobucket for all of my image hosting, and up until now, I had used it ONLY for that. That is, until I saw a neat little graph on the sidebar! As it turns out, Photobucket offers insights as to where your images are being viewed, and how often!

Not only can you see who HAS your images posted, but you can see how many views they are getting as well!

This information can be used in SOOO many ways, ahhh yet another thing for my analyzing little mind to get around, but I thought I would share my new favorite find!
