So strong is the tradition of stories at bed-time, that I dare NOT attempt to skip it. ...Ever....They may not go to sleep otherwise...

This time of year, as the decorations come out, and air freshener changes from pumpkin to cinnamon, our story choices turn to traditional. Any other time of year, it is NOT a peaceful bed-time scene. More like the girls fighting over which story to read. Gia (8) thinks that Princess stories are LAME and way too girly-girl for her. Luci (4) IS a princess and will literally kick her feet until she gets her way. Nico (1) climbs over the pile of us the whole time, trying to rip whichever book is within reach.

Now the tree is up, the house seems warmer, and finally we can agree. ANY Christmas book will make both girls happy as the idea of Santa coming gets more and more realistic to them. As small little gifts pile themselves under the tree with mounds of tape, delicately mummifying a coloring book page as only a 4 year old can do, and suddenly it is OKAY to have construction paper taped to my walls...We settle down to yet another of our family Christmas traditions.

I was lucky enough to receive a signed hardcover copy of this book, and I am certain that it will remain as a tradition for years to come! The kids just LOVED it. There are tones big enough for the older kids to catch on to, and the story is simple enough that the little ones enjoy it too! Honestly, my naughty little 4 year old got the big doe eyes when she "got" the lesson, sharing :) I think that this is a great book and it has an even better lesson to learn. Howard B. Wigglebottom is a wonderful character that many children can identify with. His story gets the children into the book and helps them relate to his problem and how to solve it
