Going against the grain

Idiom Definitions for 'Go against the grain'

A person who does things in an unconventional manner, especially if their methods are not generally approved of, is said to go against the grain. Such an individual can be called a maverick.
Well I am certainly no John McCain, but I am trending away from the norm with my diaper cake adventure!

If you search for diaper cakes online, you will see hundreds of themed cakes. From ladybugs, to the awesome jungle cakes that I am so fond of, but they all seem to be made of the same thing! Flannel receiving blankets, ribbon, and baby trinkets that however necessary, are soooo cookie cutter.

So I am a risk taker I guess, but I think a Diaper Cake has the potential to give the gift of elegance!

What would you rather receive?
