Blogger to WordPress Part 1- How to Keep your GFC followers

When I first began the process of moving my blog from Google Blogger, to a self hosted WordPress site, I had a lot of fears. (I still have several fears left...) Losing the following I had accumulated in these past 3 months, losing Alexa stats...

WOULD I be able to do it myself AND be satisfied with the results? The list goes on and on.

I spent...OMG countless hours, (as in I am glad I haven't counted...I may feel like a horrible parent if I knew THAT number) Searching, researching, experimenting, scrapping and creating. I thought that I could at LEAST share what I've gotten out of it!

How to KEEP your GFC Followers

Luckily, this is really simple!
Just log into your Google account at http://www.google.com/friendconnect
Choose "Settings"
Change the "Home URL" to your new site, SAVE, and that's it! There is a great plug-in on WordPress to display your GFC followers on your new site HERE!

Now you can keep all of the friends you've made in the blogosphere, and display them happily on your new website. Next step, directing them to the new location! Come back to find out how next week!

's,
Cindy

I had the same fear. Honestly I did hire someone to make the switch for me and I am glad I did except for now I am spending those hours trying to get just simple things to work...it will be worth it all...

Thanks for this post. I've actually been thinking about switching to WP and was just searching if whether GFC followers would transfer as well. Yay for Super Stalker Sunday. Very helpful post. Thanks:)
