Mustn't it be heavenly? SEO for BLOGGER

Finally a solution!! SEO for Blogger

I have been searching my little butt off to come to some solution for adding SEO to my Blogger Blog. Sure, I am working on my WordPress version, which has a convenient plug-in that checks my SEO for me, but I DON'T LIKE to be PR1!!

Why SEO is important

SEO, (Search Engine Optimization) simply means, giving the search engines the information they need to FIND you when someone performs a search for you. Your Google PR is also usually a prerequisite to working with many good companies for reviews, affiliate programs, and giveaways. Your Blog Traffic will grow exponentially as your SEO increases, just by the rule of percentages. The more you are displayed in search results, the more clicks you will get.

There are three steps in this process.

#1- You want to know the density of your keywords. Download THIS plug-in from Wordtracker. It will track your keyword density in your post as you type. You want around 5% density. To bring up the screen, click on a small blue "W" in the bottom corner of your browser.

#2- You want to have 4 major items covered in your post.
  • 3 heading tags containing your keywords
  • 1 Bold tag containing your keywords
  • 1 italic tag containing your keywords
  • 1 image with its ALT containing your keywords.

To ensure that these are included in every post, copy the following, and use it as a template for each new post. Paste into "Edit HTML".

THIS CONTAINS ALL VITAL CHECKS FOR A GOOD SEO SCORE.
  • Replace RED words with your selected keywords, and complete the titles around that.
  • Now you can complete your post, as you normally would, between those headings.
  • You can check the Wordtracker to make sure you have used your chosen keywords appropriately.
  • Publish your post, and proceed to Design-->Edit HTML

#3-Lastly, you'll want to change the title, description, and keywords for your post.

SAVE a copy of your template!!
It would really mess up your day if.....

Press Control+F or Apple+F to bring up your search bar, and search for the following code: <b:include data="blog" name="all-head-content">

Copy and paste the following code, and place it directly AFTER <b:include data="blog" name="all-head-content">

<b:if cond='data:blog.url == "YOUR POST URL"'> <meta content='DESCRIPTION' name='description'/> <meta content='KEYWORDS' name='keywords'/> </b:if>

YOUR POST URL- Replace with the URL of your blog post

DESCRIPTION- Replace with your description of the page, and use your keywords! (This is what shows up in the little paragraph under a website's link when you Google it)

KEYWORDS- Use the same keywords you checked in Wordtracker!

Save your template, and you are all set!

If you complete these steps for each post, your SEO will ROCK in no time!!!

To see if it worked, right click your post, and "View Info" If you scroll down you will see description and keywords :)

This is great, but...you have to do this for every post? Who has the time? I'm considering converting Magical Mouse Schoolhouse to a Wordpress host for the convenience of plug-ins. I need a full-time assistant ;)
